Where is home?
I split time between work in London and home life at the weekend in the West Country (Somerset).
When did you link up with Solid Floor?
I joined Solid Floor in 2003. Prior to that I worked in diverse jobs in the public and voluntary sector, the only commonality being that none of these professions were anything to do with timber or flooring! Having met Eelke socially in the mid nineties, I was glad for the opportunity to change careers in my mid thirties and join him at Solid Floor.
From where to wood?
I was working at the Millenium Commission Press Office and was involved in funding and marketing prolific developments such as the Dome, Eden Project and Tate Modern.
What did you bring to Solid Floor?
I am a great communicator and oversee the daily running of the Solid Floor showrooms and offices. As co-owner of the company, I have also helped grow the business and developed new business directions. For example I am taking charge of Solid Floor's outstanding range of natural carpets and rugs, a perfect accompaniment to our timber floors.
What is the best part of working at Solid Floor?
The biggest challenge and most enjoyable aspect of running Solid Floor is working alongside a really talented and committed group of people (architects, designers and home owners) to enable them to realise a key part of their project - delivering beautiful flooring.
What other interests do you have?
I was elected twice as a local Councillor and continue to play an active part in community politics. I enjoy the outdoors and am owner and walker of two lovely dogs. I am also honing my gardening skills having recently converted a large plot of land in Somerset to producing fruit and vegetables.
