Dutch designer Eelke Jan Bles established Solid Floor in 1994, when he opened a showroom in Amsterdam. Spotting an untapped demand in Britain for top quality bespoke timber flooring Eelke moved to London and set up the first British Solid Floor showroom in 1997.

Solid Floor now has two showrooms in London - Marylebone and Notting Hill. Co-owners Eelke Jan Bles and Robert Weems are hands-on involved in running the showrooms and personally assess each flooring project.

Eelke has a keen eye for design and continues to introduce innovative flooring materials to the UK. Rob is responsible for Solid Floor's extensive carpet collection, ensuring this includes a top range of natural fibres and yarns but also more unusual substances such as woven paper, polymers and fibreglass.

Solid Floor's distinctively designed showrooms don't just present a wide selection of flooring but also an ever-changing medley of art, antiques and original designs - hand-picked by Eelke and Rob to create beautiful and functional living spaces beyond the floor surface.
