Statement entrance: Cross panel parquet in Edwardian hallway
This vibrant family home in Hampstead was transformed from top to bottom, with a bold, playful vision led by Mia Karlsson Interior Design. With the entire layout reimagined, every design decision was intentional—and that extended to the flooring. It needed to be both practical and full of personality, creating a durable foundation that could support busy family life while enhancing the home's expressive, bespoke interiors.
A striking panel parquet in Cross design sets the tone from the moment you step into the large Edwardian entrance hallway. The deep, rich oak grounds the space, offering contrast to the light panelling and ornate woodwork, all bathed in natural light from the newly installed arched doorway.

Flow and function: herringbone oak in the kitchen
From this statement entryway, a matching herringbone parquet flows seamlessly into the kitchen, bringing warmth to the crisp marble surfaces and bold cabinetry. The oak’s natural variation and texture introduce movement and visual interest, softening the clean lines of this high-functioning space where daily life is centred.
Of note is the elegant double border encasing the parquet. It neatly mimics the profile of the traditional joinery, showcasing the skill and attention to detail that our installation team is known for.

A unified foundation: extending matching parquet throughout
The herringbone continues through the dining area, where full-height glazing draws attention to the craftsmanship and character of the timber—creating an elegant and welcoming setting for family gatherings. This same finish extends throughout the living areas and upstairs, ensuring a cohesive flow and a calm backdrop for the more private parts of the home.
Throughout the property, materials were chosen to strike a balance between beauty and function—underpinning a home that’s as thoughtful as it is unique.
